Release of the month: Antoni Maiovvi - Oh Caravaggio LP

Combining his driving analog sound with a fine ear for melody, Maiovvi's album is suited for clubs as well as home listening.

The Bristol-born, now Berlin based producer has an impressive output: there's been 17 albums in 12 years, and that's even without other aliases. His newest album drops in a limited-run of 500 copies on Tusk Wax.

And what an album it is. Maiovvi includes eight tracks here, with a remarkable consistent quality to them. The overall atmosphere is melancholic: voices wail in the distance, synths are drowning in reverb, there's your occasional delayed guitar line. But these tracks are very, very dancefloor-ready.

On Oh Caravaggio, Maiovvi uses a diverse range of sounds: there's italo, there's wave and there's definitely some techno. Top it all off with Antoni Maiovvi's trademark trancy melodies and you have the newest release of the month, that's as suited for the club as it is for the turntable at home.
